I couldn’t find any demo breakdown in your link, or geographic breakdown. If you have a better link, please share. There’s no doubting Fox is the superior network in terms of ratings — kind of like McDonald’s being the superior restaurant in terms of profit. The lowest-common demoniator is always a good investment, even if it’s not necessarily good for the masses.

But I still maintain MSNBC might be the better ad buy in certain markets. Lower ad rates. More percentage of viewers with actual buying power.

Donna, I congratulate you on a four-sentence post. And a quote. And a link (even if it is irrelevant…). You and I might even become friends.

BTW, where is Ryan? I genuinely hope he is well.

Granted, it would be marginal, but not insignificant.

Yeah, Fox kills MSNBC in eastern Kansas and northern Texas. Obliterates them. But MSNBC holds its own even in southern metro areas like Nashville and Atlanta. So while Fox advertisers make a killing in Shelbyville or Pulaski, MSNBC is probably the better buy in Nashville.

MSNBC’s “low ratings” are skewed significantly by the fact by most rural cable companies don’t have them on their basic tier, if at all.

In major markets, MSNBC is very competitive among the 18-54 crowd.

You don’t see many people singing her praises because the network’s viewership is so weak. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t doing something closer to journalism than any of the Hannitys, Olbermanns, etc. I find that I learn more from her show than any of her competitors, and she tends to back it up with facts that I can go and verify myself. I hope she gets a better audience because we need more people willing to ask tough questions.

Most of the others are just trying to reinforce the worldview of their predetermined audience and it’s usually presented at a 4th grade level. I’ll keep watching as long as her show can survive on the wasteland of MSNBC.
