Last night, Keith Olbermann devoted his entire show to the dire need for health care reform in the U.S.. His morally-based arguments for reform and health care for all are arguments we have far too infrequently.

If you don’t have time to watch the full show, at least watch the last two parts (see below) and embrace Keith’s idea to enable the National Association of Free Clinics to organize clinics in the districts of the 6 Senators who could potentially help filibuster the healthcare reform bill.

  1. Dean says:

Why would he scare me? I voted for the guy and stand by that vote. He has not done things perfectly, but he was obviously better than the alternative. And the best thing about intelligent people — and Obama certainly fits that bill — is that they get even better over time.

The best part about Obama has been his foreign policy. Unlike the previous president, he kept this country safe for the first eight months of his tenure. He has engaged friend and foe alike. Again, he has not done things perfectly, but he is obviously better than anything the GOP has to offer.

  2. Ryan says:

Dean, if Obama doesn’t scare you… no one we could POSSIBLE have will scare you.

  3. Dean says:

Hey, if you want to put Huckabee in there, that’s totally fine with us… I’m not sure who would scare me, really. I think Romney, perhaps. But not really.

  4. Ryan says:

    A hammer, Mary?

    Dean..

Mary said it can’t be Mike Huckabee.. he doesn’t have a real degree in theology.. only a Bachelors in Religion… I’m voting for Obama.. I don’t care who the GOP picks.

  5. Beth says:

Dean – Don’t feed the animals here – you’ll be sorry!!

  6. Mary Mancini says:

Dean, I get what you’re saying but for those who don’t pay as much attention as you, sometimes a hammer is necessary.

  7. Dean says:

Works for me, too. Glad to see you’re on board! :o )

“All right, Mr. Ryan,” — forgive me, I watch too many Tom Clancy movies — who do you see as the GOP nominee in 2012?

  8. Ryan says:

Yeah, I think you will be able to finish in Obama’s 2nd term… definitely! Stick with that plan.

  9. Dean says:

This is the best and worst of Keith. The best: he has unmatched intellect and historical knowledge, and the ability to relate the history into modern context. The worst: that he often hammers home a point well after it has already been driven home, and does so with such volume is that all you remember is the sound of the hammer.

I really like his newscasts, and think the best blows away the worst. (And frankly, he is even more entertaining when it comes to baseball).

Personally, I’m grown tired of the health-care debate: It looks like we will finally get many of the reforms we need. We probably won’t get a public option, but a partial victory is better than none. We can finish the job in Obama’s second term. Perhaps the GOP will nominate Palin, ensuring an Obama 538-0 victory in 37 months.
