A Vanderbilt University student group with not-so veiled name of “Youth for Western Civilization” (was “We Want to Keep the United States as White as Possible” taken?) is hosting an anti-immigrant lecture by the delusional, double-dollar-sign speaker for hire, Bay Buchanan tonight at 8:00 PM in Garland Hall, Room 101. Buchanan is the chairman of Tom Tancredo’s Team America PAC, which supports deportation raids, which tear apart families and communities, and the “election to Congress of candidates who share our commitment to supporting full border security, and opposing all amnesty measures for illegal aliens…”

A Vanderbilt Immigrant rights organization is planning a peaceful rally from 7:30 – 8:00 PM outside Garland Hall to show their support of immigrants and immigrant rights issue (they will meet in Sarratt one hour before the really to make posters).

The Youth for Western Civilization’s mission statement, according to the national organization’s website, is “the support of Western history, identity, high culture, and pride and opposition to radical multiculturalism, political correctness, racial preferences, mass immigration and socialism.” Buchanan also spoke to the group’s University of North Carolina chapter this week and Tancredo to the chapter at American University in DC in February. Perhaps they are not really “guests” of the group at all…

UPDATE: According to the the Southern Poverty Law Center which monitors hate groups, the Youth for Western Civilization is “well-funded” and made a “a splashy debut…at Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, in Washington, D.C” in February. One of its founders, Marcus Epstein, “is a frequent contributor to the white nationalist hate website VDARE.com” and is also “the head of the Robert A. Taft Club, a Washington, D.C., group whose events regularly feature prominent academic racists like Jared Taylor, the editor of the overtly white supremacist journal American Renaissance.” Yet another founder, Kevin DeAnna, “has posted several times in recent years to the Spartan Spectator, the website of the Michigan State University chapter of Young Americans for Freedom, which was designated a “hate group” by the SLC after it organized a “Catch an Illegal Alien Day” game at the University.

Just as long as you all here don’t try to stop or speak down about those who immagrate here “Legally”. If this group even makes one peep about ending “legal immigration”, like this fool Congressman from Colorado who was spewing idiousy about such on Larry King awhile back. Then I’m going to get frustrated real quickly…. As long as “those” that do follow the law and jump through all the hoops the way they’re supposed to. Which many do, “then leave these folks out of this”….Unfortunately, a lot of these groups sadly have the gall to attempt to package “those who follow the law” in the same space as those who don’t………….THERE’S NO DAMN PLACE FOR THAT SORT OF IDIOTIC AND BIGOTED BEHAVIOR. LEAVE THOSE WHO CAME AND CONTINUE TO COME HERE “LEGALLY” THE HELL ALONE!! This is to that group of old white men seccesionist’s from Tennessee and even California, who have their heads up their rears.

I am from France and know very well what can happen when your country allows anyone to enter without checking them at the border. We have had many terrorist attacks in our country that have not been reported in the U.S. Recently I read again that terrorists (Hamas members) are known to have entered the U.S. through Mexico. You are literally allowing murderers and drug dealers to enter your country. People who say it is good to allow all people to enter without any check at the border will be very sorry when they or someone close to them and thousands of other people have their limbs blown off or are killed in a bombing. It is a very sad fact that some people care more that other people think they are “nice” and “cool” than they do about the harsh reality that hateful, murderous people can bring to your peaceful towns. Before the 1960’s, everyone (your parents or grandparents and their parents) all registered before entering the U.S. It is not a bad thing, protecting the innocent people in your country is a very, very important and humanitarian thing for a country to do for its’ citizens. PLEASE understand this before it is too late.

“You see, America did not used to be a melting pot.”

By melting pot I meant of cultures not race. I do not care about race and neither does YWC.

“We had one dominant culture formed around our (what was once) great American values.”

Furthermore, the Native American culture was almost wiped out by new American settlers. If anything, the Native Americans adopted the western culture. Even today, Indian Reservations are slowly dwindling as their land is being used for government projects. I figured you would not need to go back to the Pre-Columbian era in order to prove me wrong.

“You see, America did not used to be a melting pot. We had one dominant culture formed around our (what was once) great American values.”

Yeah – the Native Americans were awesome, weren’t they?

  5. Carl says:

Those are not coded statements…in fact they are pretty straight forward. You see, America did not used to be a melting pot. We had one dominant culture formed around our (what was once) great American values. However, things like radical multiculturalism, mass immigration, and even now socialism, have and are wiping out the western culture. YWC aims to create a movement to stop this and restore our western culture.

Buchanan and Tancredo are not immigrant bashers. They are illegal immigrant bashers. But, both groups, legal and illegal, see how America is one big cultural melting pot so they want to add their share. Now there is little trace of the Western culture because immigrants have not assimilated. No longer can America’s cultural influence spread because we have none. This is a major problem.

Without a dominant culture, a country can’t function. It will eat itself from inside-out. These college kids from YWC realize this and want to protect our country before it becomes meaningless.

“This is our culture — fight for it.
This is our flag — pick it up.
This is our country — take it back.”
    – Congressman Tom Tancredo

Do you not read when you type, Carl? These nice young men also state that they are opposed “to radical multiculturalism, political correctness, racial preferences, mass immigration, and socialism.” Coded statements for sure. And they ally themselves with immigrant-bashers like Tancredo and Buchanan (both of them). They also think it’s amusing to exploit other people’s struggles for a better life for themselves and their families.

I have a feeling that you and I are never going to agree because unlike you and the young men of the YWC, multiculturalism and the melting pot that is and always has been America doesn’t scare me. Whether I’m in Chinatown in NYC or on Nolensville Road in Nashville, I know what country I’m in and take pride in our mixed heritage and history.

And while I believe that we need comprehensive immigration reform, programs like the border fence and the mass deportation of 12 million people isn’t my idea idea of smart public policy.

  7. Carl says:

Mary, do you not look at the computer screen when you type? These young men want nothing to do with white supremacy. Automatically, because you see the word “Western” you think this is some radical white movement. Check out their website and actual statements they have made. The YWC stands for the protection of the western culture. Western culture is not defined as “White culture” but rather core American values.

From my research, I have noticed that other flaming liberals like yourself use SPLC as a source for your knowledge about YWC. Yes, SPLC has labeled YWC as a hate group but, are they not themselves a hate group? SPLC is known for attempting to deface all new right-winged organizations. This is expected because they are strong leftists like yourself. Try finding an unbiased source before making your assumption about YWC. Please, anyone who would like to challenge my statements as false, I would love to hear your comment. I will back up all my statements with evidence if needed. I am sick and tired of groups like YWC getting unfairly bashed.

  8. Mary Mancini says:

    Great episode…

  9. Pete says:

Mary, this reminds me of the seinfeild episode, where they pretend to be “Obrian” so they get a free limo ride only to get mixed up with the Arian Nation group..
