This is a bad idea on so many levels:
How about a million?
How about 60 million? (All gun owners in the country are urged to participate)….
Here’s the Plan:
At the designated time, say Saturday at 6:30 PM local time, we will fire one round, safely aimed into the ground or other suitable backstop – definitely NOT into the air or in an otherwise unsafe manner.
Then, continuing on the first Saturday of each month: Repeat the process.
As this gathers momentum, there will come a Saturday when one million or more gunshots will be heard around the world. And all it will require is a step into your own backyard to ‘vote for freedom’.
The sound of one round, being joined by another, then another in your neighborhood will soon show the breadth of power the Citizenry still holds over the government.
Please observe all safe handling rules for these events. “Blank” ammunition is recommended. If you don’t have a gun, fireworks will do.

We love you too! But a vast majority of a million people isn’t a complete majority. Most might be safe or learn a lesson, but you have to admit that someone might do something really stupid.
Mry, you know I love you guys, but I really don’t see this being a terrible idea. My guess is that a VAST majority of those who would take part are safe with their firearms. Those who are not, well, this might focus their attention better than just being out on a “hunting trip” that would probably be more likely to cause some injury to someone.
And I haven’t been to a range in 15 years. My trigger finger is getting itchy…

Never presume. I’m from New York, for Chrissakes. I’ve fired a gun numerous times, at a range, with my pal, Howard. And yes, I enjoyed it.
But odds are that with 1 million people simultaneously firing guns, someone is going to get hurt. Just sayin’. Some people start drinking pretty early during on weekends.
And if conducted safely, just WHAT is *the bad idea* part??

A assure you that there would be no danger to your foot or any other of your extremities were you to handle a firearm in a safe and responsible manner.
I presume from your post that you may not have had an opportunity to experience firearms safety training and to actually have the chance to fire a gun. If that is the case, I would be pleased to offer my range, my firearms, my ammunition, and my time to introduce you to an afternoon of safe shooting.
If the Dallas area is inconvenient for you, I have friends across the country who would extend the same courtesy – or I could travel to the venue of your choice. Just say the word and I can set it up.
I promise you will be smiling after a day at the range.
