BBC World News America posted a clip of Dr Martin Luther King predicting a Barack Obama “in less than 40 years.”

And ABC News collects the reflections of some of the Civil Rights leaders who accompanied King on his March on Washington 46 years ago and are returning to Washington for the Obama inauguration.

On a different note, the Presidential Inauguration Committee made what they say was an “error in executing a plan” to have openly gay Bishop Gene Robinson’s prayer be part of the live televised portion of yesterday’s “We Are One” (now officially known as the “We Are One, Except for you, the Gays”) concert:

“We had always intended and planned for Rt. Rev. Robinson’s invocation to be included in the televised portion of yesterday’s program. We regret the error in executing this plan – but are gratified that hundreds of thousands of people who gathered on the mall heard his eloquent prayer for our nation that was a fitting start to our event.” — PIC communications director Josh Earnest

While the “oversight” is raising the ire of many, it should be some consolation that President-elect Obama kept his “gay or straight” line in the speech that was televised at the end of yesterday’s concert.

  1. nala says:

i really support obama.Martin Luther King’s dream came true he said in 40 years a colored person will be sent to office and exactly 41 years later obama came 2 town.

  2. It has been a long journey for improvements on civil rights and equality, and with Obama being sworn in, the civil rights movement have come full circle since the “I have a dream speech”. I hope Obama can concentrate on increasing jobs, advancing education, and the decreasing of our dependence on fossil fuels.
