Dr. Beardy the Nobel Prize Winner, I presume? An Interview with Paul Krugman

In light of this morning’s announcement that Princeton University economist, New York Times columnist and proud liberal Dr. Paul Krugman won the Nobel prize in economics, we give you “Liberadio(!) Loves Dr. Beardy,” the interview we did with him a year ago.

In this segment, Mary and Freddie interview Beardy, alias “Dr. Beardy” and “Paul Krugman” and “Princeton Economist” and “New York Times Columnist.” When it comes to the failings of the Bush administration, he pulls no punches in his new book, The Conscience of a Liberal, or in this interview. We think “President Beardy” has a nice ring to it.

Listen to: Dr. Beardy, I presume? An Interview with Paul Krugman

If the Nobel Prize Committee gave out awards in “Snarky Punditry Aimed at Disastrous US Policy both Domestic and Foreign,” we’re sure the great and powerful Krugman would win that one too. But for now he, and we, will just have to settle for the economics prize and watching the conservative punditry (aka as non-Nobel prizewinners) tie themselves in knots in an attempt to demonize the Nobel prize committee as pawns of the “liberal media.”

Thanks to all of you listeners who knew of our undying devotion to the most cuddly of bearded economists (Robert Reich notwithstanding) and called, IM’d or emailed us the good news.

UPDATE: Matthew Iglesias writes up the best of the post-Nobel prize winning “Get Krugman” attacks.
