America’s Bad Day

Okay, let’s see.

• Overshadowing everything, the big bailout package is in crisis.
• Sarah Palin does an interview so bad that new conservative wunderkind Ross Douthat can’t even bear to link to it* for fear of his own reputation.
• McCain got frustrated with combining losing both the election and the limelight, so he “suspended” his campaign.
• We enjoy the biggest bank failure in U.S. history.
• While nobody’s looking, the carmakers are separately bailed out.

And now we’re at war with Pakistan. Thank the Assemblies of God they’re not a nuclear power! Oh, wait…

Oh, and I’ve had to work late all week. At least I can rest easy knowing the fundamentals of our economy are strong!

Hope seems more audacious by the moment.

* I have no such qualms.
