Steve Gill’s Gas Problem
Steve Gill’s latest thesis: Democrats are to blame for high gasoline prices since “The average price of gasoline hit $3.33 a gallon last week, a stunning $1.14 higher than it was when the Democrats took control of the U.S. House and Senate…” in 2006.
So what does it mean that the average price of gas rose a stunning $1.50 between January 2001 and August 2006 when Republicans had control of both Congress and the White House?
Oh, and, according to Gill, Democrats are also to blame for the recession and have “cost homeowners trillions of dollars in equity in their homes, pushed up the unemployment rate and obliterated consumer confidence.” All these pronouncements even though we’ve had almost 7 years of Republican dominated rule and were well on our way to fiscal trouble back in 2006.
Mmmmmm…I love the smell of intellectual dishonesty in the morning…

Yup, Steve Gill has a “gas” problem alright…each and every time he opens his mouth, a cloud of hot air bursts out.

What a legacy for Republicans - to be known as outright liars.

I think it’s important to remember that Gill remains “chief political
analyst” for WKRN News 2. This is partisan bloviating; Gill has a political agenda and should not be let near the television cameras under the title “chief political analyst.” When will the local news media stop giving right-wing hacks the imprimatur of legitimacy?

By the way, check out
this photo. Might have a little more to do with high gas prices than Gill’s theorizing.

[…] Mary Mancini has a bit of a problem with conservative talker Steve Gill’s assertion that the Democratic takeover of Congress in 2006 is responsible for the recent hike in gas prices: So what does it mean that the average price of gas rose a stunning $1.50 between January 2001 and August 2006 when Republicans had control of both Congress and the White House? Thanks, Southern Beale! Thanks for pointing out the “WKRN chief political analyst” tag. I’m so jaded thinking “who the hell cares about stuff like that these days” that I just left it out. But it’s important!!!
