A Comic Look at the Day We Hit 4,000

On Sunday, four US soldiers were killed by an IED in Baghdad, bringing the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to 4,000. To memorialize the day in which this grim milestone was reached, the Nashville Peace Coalition will gather in front of the Federal Building in Nashville today, Monday, March 24th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm to remember all those killed in the war, including an estimated 89,000 or more Iraqi civilians.

The toll of 4,000 lives lost over a lie is a tragedy beyond my comprehension. When you include the tens of thousands of Iraqis that have been killed or injured over the last five years, along with the thousands of wounded American soldiers whose lives will never be the same, the grief is overwhelming.
When will the American people wake up and demand some leadership from our elected officials…we can start by impeaching Bush and Cheney for their crimes over the past seven years, and then forge a consensus on getting the U.S. out of Iraq.
