What are The Dangers of a Weak Answer?

Fred Thompson’s debate performance yesterday afternoon was average at best.

Q: “What are the dangers of a weak dollar?” A: (Hesitate….think…stall…think…hesitate“Uh, Danger of a weak dollar is that it will damage us internationally. We’ve got to have a strong dollar because of the creditors that we have there. Any president of the United States has to stand behind a strong dollar. The whole world needs to know that we are good for our obligations.”

This guy really kept Coop (Congressman Cooper let’s us call him “Coop.” OK, no he doesn’t.) out of the Senate? I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for above-average president. You know, someone’s who’s too smart for me to have a martini beer with.

At least he know the names of the world leaders. Although I’m not sure how much of a “gotcha question” it is to name the prime minister of Canada. CNN gives CNBC (themselves) too much credit. Couldn’t they have picked a country a little more exotic? Or at least on another continent?

Giuliani was the clear winner. He went after the Democratic front runner Senator Hillary Clinton early and often which gave us a preview of what a Giuliani v. Any Democrat race would be like. He’s learned the “attack, don’t defend” strategy of previous presidential campaigns well and he’s using to his advantage. We can only hope that the Democratic candidate learned the same lesson.
