You know we’re all about participatory democracy here at Liberadio(!) and that’s why Congresspedia, the joint project of the Sunlight Foundation and the Center for Media and Democracy, warms our cold black liberal hearts.

We’re even more excited because in anticipation of the 2008 election, Congresspedia has a new feature - the 2008 Race Tracker, a “collaborative, citizen-driven project” featuring profiles on congressional seat challengers. According the founders, the project is “non-partisan and, in true open-source fashion, is free for anyone to participate - even the candidates themselves.”

They also created a series of state-based portals that “list all the candidates from each state and all the local blogs we could find that cover Congress at least occasionally.” They add, “While Congresspedia is limited to confirmed facts, we’re a big believer in the blogosphere and want to direct as many citizens as possible to the blogs written by the folks that know the candidates best - the locals.

There’s even a link to add a blog you know about.

Isn’t participatory democrapedia grand?
