Last week a White House report found that Iraq has yet to meet many of the benchmarks set out to measure progress. Today, in response to the report and subsequent criticism, Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki said that Iraqi forces “could secure the country on their own ‘any time’ American troops decided to withdraw.”
