I agree with Braisted, I don’t see the restrictionist? restrictionism? that Kleinheider sees in David Briley’s immigration policy. There are undoubtedly problems that will arise from 287(g) but until it becomes an unmanageable mess, it’s smart for Briley to work with it. And although “Zero Tolerance for Employers who hire illegal immigrants” raises my eyebrows, he uses the same loophole the state does stating that he will punish employers who “knowingly” offer jobs to illegal residents. That said, at least he’s taking about it at length and in depth, which is typical for David. He’s willing to calmly and thoughtfully discuss even the most contentious issues including the epidemic of DUI’s in the Latino community.
