“Edwards charges $55,000 to speak to UC Davis students about poverty, by Carla Marinucci (SFGate: Politics Blog)
Is it problematic to me that Edwards charged a public university something on the order of our median incomes for a single lecture on poverty? Yes. But is it problematic that our media salivates at going after a rich guy for addressing poverty issues? Yes. Would it be better if he weren’t talking about and/or addressing poverty at all?

    About Bill Moyer’s Speech:

I was at this speech in Dallas last week for my wife’s nephew’s graduation. It had a powerful effect upon many who were in the audience. SMU is the heart of privilege in Texas, and Mr. Moyer’s words cut to the heart of what most there seem to subscribe to. At the end there was a rousing standing ovation. I looked around the crowd during this response and saw pockets of people not standing or clapping. This confirms exactly what Mr. Moyers was saying this country is indeed broken.
