<em>"In my opinion, all this outrage about the Supreme Court is somewhat misplaced and would be best expressed by encouraging the Democratic majority in Congress to add a health exception amendment to the ban that was upheld by the Supreme Court."</em>

And what better way to let the Democratic majority in Congress know you want to add a health exception amendment than to express your outrage publicly? Oh, there will be phone calls made and emails sent as well but public gatherings can really help focus and get a movement started.

John Q, I understand that emotions surrounding this issue run high but I believe that adults can discuss abortion without such hyperbole. Or do you sincerely believe that those of us who value the life of a pregnant woman want to "drink blood?" My point is that we're all pro-life. No one is pro-abortion or pro-death. My problem with the ruling of the Supreme Court is that for the first time it allows abortion laws to stand that do not have an exception for the life or health of the mother. Is that a pro-life decision?

Did you mislabel your article? Why would anyone who is "pro life" be "outraged" over the supreme court upholding an anti abortion law? Did you mean to label this story "Pro Choice? Express Your Outrage" or perhaps "Pro Abortion? Express your outrage" or even "Pro Death? Express your outrage".

Whatever your position, you should realize that this law and the ruling upholding it are basically meaningless. The "partial birth abortion" law only outlawed one late term abortion procedure. Much more horrendous procedures, such as "dilation and curettage" (aka dilation and dismemberment).

So you're still "free" to rip a 9 month old "fetus" to pieces and drink its blood if you so desire. Maybe in your heart of hearts you simply WISH you were pro life?

In my opinion, all this outrage about the Supreme Court is somewhat misplaced and would be best expressed by encouraging the Democratic majority in Congress to add a health exception amendment to the ban that was upheld by the Supreme Court. I see that's in the unquoted explanation above, but this outrage should be retroactive. Something tells me Alito and Roberts aren't going to be moved to find abortion rights in the Constitution by an expression of "outrage". But members of Congress might pass better legislation, and future presidents might be persuaded to appoint justices with different constitutional perspectives.
