Barbarians at the Gate
Amie from DrinkingLiberally Nashville has a quick question for you:
“If you could speak to a gathering of a million people tomorrow, what would you say?
Would you lay out a case for a clean energy source by 2020? Would you argue for universal healthcare? Would it be civil rights for everyone in this country, period?
If we were to go back to Constitution Hall and the Liberty Bell, as we have time after time in this country to liberate one group of people afer another, what would you have us do? What’s YOUR dream for our future?
Nothing has astounded me more in the past nine months than the voices of the people here in Nashville, and how willingly all of you have offered up your ideas and hopes and dreams for our country along with your condemnation of the things being done in our names.
Your enthusiasm in bringing our voices together, and the spirit of joy in which you’ve done it, is an inspiration and gathers steam every single day. Tomorrow we have the opportunity to join our voices with those of people all around the country in a growing chorus demanding accountability, justice, and above all, a return to the basic values of democracy on which this country was founded. We’re not having a party for a couple of authors, we’re joining forces with people who provide megaphones used to speak to millions of people all over the country.
We believe in our country, we hope for our people, and we celebrate the excitement of making positive change.
Come speak out.”
She is, of course, talking about the book signing party for Jerome Armstrong (MydDD.com) and Markos Moulitsas (DailyKos.com), authors of Crashing the Gate: Netroots, Grassroots, and the Rise of People-Powered Politics at Mafioza’s Tomorrow TODAY!, Thursday, April 27, at 6pm. Hope to see you there.
In the meantime, you can listen to the interview we did with Jerome this past Monday.
PS: You know those Crashing the Gate fellows are on to something when Drudge starts saying they’re not.
PS UPDATE: DailyKos comments on Drudge: “…top ranking on Amazon, over 10,000 copies sold in three weeks the book has been out.”
